The Challenge

Poor Yorick's is a coffee shop located in the center of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Initially, Poor Yorick's had static menu boards that required manual maintenance each time a menu item or price changed. Management needed to centrally control the menu boards from the food service office, which is located in a different part of campus. Implementing central control would save time and money by eliminating manager travel to the restaurant to make changes to the static boards. Another challenge was promoting that the restaurant not only offered coffee but a full sushi menu as well. Managers wanted dynamic menu boards that would promote the food products and draw students to the coffee shop.

The Solution

Texas Digital installed two LCD displays to be used as digital menu boards. Poor Yorick's managers use Texas Digital's VitalCAST software to centrally control the digital menu boards from the office and to make price and menu items updates instantly. Poor Yorick's digital menu boards display menu items and prices, hours of operation, current weather and eye-catching graphics to encourage impulse purchasing at the register.

The Results

Poor Yorick's can now display their menu items in an attention-grabbing and professional manner. The coffee shop has experience cost savings on printed media and time savings from implementing central control, reducing the time management spent traveling. The restaurant can better portray its food items, advertising the sushi menu in addition to the coffee menu. The digital menu boards installed by Texas Digital helped Poor Yorick's meet all of its needs and better communicate what the restaurant has the offer.
