Texas Digital's VitalCAST Installed at Santikos Theatres
TEXAS DIGITAL'S VITALCAST INSTALLED AT SANTIKOS THEATRES
Digital Delivery System Gives "Dinner & a Movie" Concept a Lift at Unique San Antonio Movie Theatre
( September 23, 2005) College Station, Texas – Texas Digital Systems, Inc., a global provider of real-time visual alert communication solutions, recently completed installation of its VitalCAST Broadcast Solution at San Antonio-based Santikos Theatres’ Rialto Cinema Bistro.
VitalCAST delivers digital pricing and messaging content to wide-screen LCD and plasma screens that act as menu boards and box office displays and allow for near-instantaneous updates of information on each display from a central office. VitalCAST gives theatre personnel the ability to directly upload a wide variety of standard picture, video and Web content formats. The solution allows theatres to customize the number and sizes of partitions on any display, in which various pieces of media can run concurrently.
Located in Northeast San Antonio, the Rialto Cinema Bistro was recently remodeled into a unique theatre concept combining movies with upscale in-theatre dining from an in-house Italian restaurant and bar. VitalCAST drives the menu board content in the concessions area as well as the movie titles and show times in the box office. Menu prices, promotions, in-house advertising images and animations of menu items are presented on two 42” displays in the concessions area, along with movie trailers and advertisements from concessions suppliers. In the box office, show information and ratings are displayed on a 42” display along with scrolling messages and periodic movie trailers.
Starting with a limited collection of existing images, Santikos has successfully influenced purchase habits and increased concessions profitability. “In the first week, we only used imagery of our cakes, pastries and other bakery items,” explained Tony Overpeck, Director of Business Development for Santikos Theatres. “We saw a huge jump in all of our bakery sales.” The theatre has received positive feedback from customers who say they like being able to see images and animations of the food that is available before they order it, and according to Overpeck, “Our customers don’t mind standing in line anymore because there’s something for them to watch and absorb. We ended up with something phenomenal.”
“The Rialto’s theatre concept gives movie-goers a unique experience,” said Dennis Davidson, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Texas Digital. “Using VitalCAST, the theatre immediately captures the attention of patrons with digital multi-media presentations they remember.”
